After the third abusive relationship I couldn’t help but be scared by men, even if there was absolutely no danger. More about my story and how Breakthrough changed my life in the second video:
We learned to believe so many things about ourselves at a very young age because, as children, our minds were still very malleable and receptive. Many of the things we learned about ourselves were good, and many were bad. Because our primary teachers were people we looked to for protection and nurturing, we had to believe what they were teaching us. That is, we had no choice but to believe and adopt other people´s descriptions of who we are.
Our minds were programmed by other people subsequent to our first few months of life.
This programming conformed to the programming those people received from their parents; which was programmed according to the programming of their parents, and so on. If we really are the content and dynamic of our minds, then clearly we are no different to programmed robots. And if we really are our minds, then we are right to conclude that we are a bundle of inherited conflict.
Our minds are full of shoulds and should-nots which, when played out, are designed to evoke particular responses in other people. Another way of saying this is that our minds are goal-oriented towards gaining acknowledgment and validation from others. This was our orientation as tiny children, and this childish mindset continues to dictate our behavior in adulthood.
“Who am I?” Most of us believe we know who we are but BreakThrough will set in motion “second thoughts” as to our personal “truth” about ourselves. BreakThrough is not for the purpose of bringing new truth, the focus is on self-honesty, and true self-honesty only occurs when we gain a clear perspective on the misinformation in our minds.
The misinformation we are talking about here is the collection of faulty perceptions that we have of self and others.
